NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - A Tennessee high school head football coach has resigned following allegations that at least two of his assistants painted their team's field house with vulgarities and made it seem like the work of a rival high school.

Marion County Schools superintendent Mark Griffith confirmed Wednesday that coach Mac McCurry resigned in a meeting with Griffith and the school principal.

The Jasper Police Department and Marion County Sheriff's Office did not immediately return a call to The Associated Press.

The Chattanooga Times Free Press reported earlier this week that two of McCurry's assistant coaches were charged with vandalism, and a third has been fired.

Administrators found the field house defaced in cross-town rival South Pittsburg's colors on Nov. 1. South Pittsburg won the championship game.
