DECATUR, AL (WAFF) -

For the first time in more than a decade, Decatur city employees will not get a holiday bonus.

In a 3-1 vote Monday, Decatur City Council members voted to not give a one-time $100 pay increase to its 500 employees.

Council members questioned if the city could spare it from the budget. "The concerns of other budget constraints overwhelmed the approval of that appropriation, so we will move forward," said Mayor Don Kyle.

The annual one-time pay increase was created to show employee appreciation.
