KNOXVILLE, TN (RNN) – A pair of double-doubles by Jeronne Maymon and Jarnell Stokes helped the Tennessee Volunteers get their first win against the USC Upstate Spartans Saturday.

Maymon scored 15 points and had 11 rebounds, and Stokes scored 17 points and a career-high 18 rebounds in a 74-65 victory that Tennessee (1-1) had to fight for.

The Spartans (1-2) led by as many as 13 points in the first half, and led going into the second half before the Vols made a 20-4 run that sealed the lead for them.

Tennessee's scoring leader was senior guard Jordan McRae with 18 points, and was one of four Vols players to score points in the double-digits. The Vols also shot 81 percent from free throw range, but only hit five-of-13 of their 3-pointers.

Senior forward Torrey Craig scored 20 points with seven rebounds for the Spartans.

Tennessee's next game will be at home against the Citadel Bulldogs on Monday.
