ATHENS, AL (WAFF) -

Friends and family gathered Saturday afternoon at the National Guard Armory to welcome home their soldiers.

The Alabama Army National Guard's 128th Military Police Company, out of Athens, spent the last 10 months supporting Operation Enduring Freedom at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

Talia Panna, the fiancé of one of the soldiers who returned said, "He has been really upset just missing everything. He is really excited to be coming home. It's been really rough having to work and being a single mom for a year, so we are looking forward to having our family back."

The 128th provided security forces to support units based in Cuba.
