Hundreds attend Rocket City Jr. Math Mania Tournament

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Hundreds of north Alabama children attended the area's largest math tournament on Saturday.

The Grissom High School Math Team hosted the seventh annual Rocket City Junior Math Mania at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. This event included admission to the center and math competitions during the morning for fourth through eighth grade students.

Students from north Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee and Mississippi all attended this event.

The Davidson Center was closed to the general public from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in order to accommodate this tournament. Also, general admission to the park and main museum was reduced to $11 for the day.

    The Guntersville Police Department have released news details on a double shooting late Friday afternoon that left one man dead.

    The incident occurred at approximately 5:30 p.m., when police from multiple law enforcement agencies responded to a 911 call reporting two people had been shot on Edmonds Road.
