HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Huntsville police want to find the person who opened fire at an apartment complex across the street from Alabama A&M University.

Police said someone walked up to the window of the apartment and started shooting into it. Bullets shattered windows and hit some televisions, but no one was hurt. It happened at the 100 block of Winchester Road.

Residents of the apartment complex where the shooting occurred spent Wednesday on edge as police continue to investigate the case.

Neighbor George Baldwain said the shooting has shocked him, as well as other residents. A student at A&M, Baldwain said he chose the complex because it is close to campus.

"I can just walk right over to school. It takes me about two minutes. I was actually asleep and I heard the gunshots, and it woke me up. This is not really a bad area," he said.

Another neighbor, who asked to remain anonymous, said around 2:30 a.m. she bolted out of bed when she heard the shots.

"I couldn't figure out where it was coming from, but it was real loud," she said.

If you have any information about this shooting, you are asked to call the Huntsville Police Department.
