ATHENS, AL (WAFF) -

A ruptured water main is impacting both traffic and the progress of a road improvement project.

Construction crews cut the water main at Huntsville-Browns Ferry Road at Lindsay Lane Tuesday afternoon, flooding the area.

Crews are working to pump the excess water out of the area. The intersection will not be open for the remainder of Tuesday.

Limestone County officials said no cars are allowed to use the intersection. They urged drivers to find an alternate route around the area. The engineer said they expect to open the road by Wednesday afternoon.
