HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Happy Veterans Day! Today cities across the nation will pause to remember the service and sacrifice of our nation's veterans past and present.

WAFF 48 News will carry Huntsville's parade live at 11 a.m. on air and online.

Streets in downtown Huntsville will be blocked off Monday morning or this year's Veterans Day parade.

More than 165 parade entries were made this year. The parade starts on Clinton Avenue near the Von Braun Center, goes around Big Spring Park, down Williams Avenue, up Green Street and around Monroe Street.

If you can't make it downtown, WAFF 48 News will stream the parade starting at 11 a.m. on air and online at WAFF.com - http://bit.ly/1bkDhBc

Also in Huntsville, more than 50 veterans will be honored at the Magnolia Trace retirement community. The veterans are residents of the community and come from every branch of the military. Medals and awards will be on display. The event starts at 3 p.m. Monday.

The Marshall County VFW will hold a Veterans Day service. It's scheduled for 11 a.m. at the Marshall County Courthouse Veterans Memorial.

The Arab VFW post will also hold a ceremony. It's set for 2 p.m. at the veterans memorial in the Arab City Park. The Marshall County Sheriff's Honor Guard will perform a rifle salute.
