HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

The Olympic torch was returned back to Earth safely Sunday.

The Expedition 37 crew was expected to land in Kazakhstan at 8:50 p.m. Central time. The crew carried the torch into space on Saturday.

While it wasn't the first Olympic torch to ever go into space, it was the first in history to ever be taken on a spacewalk.

The 22nd Olympic Winter Games is scheduled for February 7, 2014 in Sochi, Russia.
