HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

A Morgan County war veteran and firefighter was remembered for his life and death on Friday.

Jantzen Frazier was honored, posthumously, Friday night at the annual Huntsville-Madison County Veteran's Dinner, which is part of Heroes Week.

His family accepted the "True American Hero" award from the Patriot Guard Riders. Frazier's family also received a letter of recognition from the Military Order of the Purple Heart for his bravery and ultimate sacrifice.

Frazier served two tours in Iraq. The 28-year-old died in October when his tanker overturned while he was responding to a fire with the Oden Ridge Fire Department.

Frazier was a five-time Purple Heart recipient. He left behind a wife and four young daughters.
