Former teacher indicted on sodomy charge

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

A Madison County jury indicted a former middle school teacher on a sodomy charge.

A former student brought the allegations against Brett Naff. He was a teacher a The Country Day School in Huntsville.

The indictment states the alleged victim was under the age of 12.

A trial date has not been set.

Following the news of Naff's indictment, The Country Day School released this statement:

"The Country Day School has recently been made aware that the case against former teacher, Brett Naff, will be moving forward to trial sometime in the future. This case stems from an accusation made by a former student from ten years ago. We respect Mr. Naff's stated declaration of innocence and await the upcoming trial with trust in the truth and our justice system.

As this case is ongoing, no further comments or interviews will be given on the advice of our counsel. Thank you in advance for respecting the privacy of our school setting. Our main focus will continue to be educating students as it has been for the past 25 years."
