In North Alabama High School Swim League action Thursday night, Buckhorn High School won the girls title and Hazel Green High School took the boys title at the SportsMed Madison County High School Swim Championships at the Alabama A&M Swim Complex.
The Buckhorn girls (4-0 in dual meets this year) won the County Championship for the fourth straight year by taking all three relays and winning 5 of 8 individual events. Buckhorn scored 167 points to Sparkman's 119, while Madison County had 72 points, and Hazel Green scored 51 points. Buckhorn's Reily Hill won the 50 Free and the 100 Fly, plus swam on two winning relays. Also winning individual events for Buckhorn were Katelynn Hunter in the 200 Free, Emerson Barrett in the 100 Back, and Alex Krause in the 100 Breast. Sparkman's Kayla Hammer won the 100 Free and the 200 Individual Medley, while teammate Sierra Keylor won the 500 Free.
In the boys, Hazel Green won their first ever County Swim Championship by squeezing past Buckhorn 117 to 110. Sparkman was third with 75 points, and Madison County High School scored 6 points. For Hazel Green, Tyler Quick won the 100 Back and Brandon Walker won the 200 Free. For Buckhorn, Tyler Johnson won the 50 Free and 100 Free, Laban Jamar won the 100 Fly and the 100 Breast, and teammate Cody Agena won the 500 Free. For Sparkman, Taylor Conner won the 200 Individual Medley.
The North Alabama High School Swim League will come to a close with the SportsMed North Alabama Championship at Huntsville's Brahan Springs Natatorium on Saturday Nov 16th.
