HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

A disaster drill preparing nursing students for the real deal was held Thursday morning on the campus of UAH.

The college has been putting on the drill for 10 years now. This year, they're focusing on making the drill more authentic. A makeup artist was brought in to replicate injuries that people may get during a disaster.

Last year's drill portrayed the aftermath of an EF5 tornado.

Nursing students from UAH and Oakwood University, along with campus police and other first responders, took part in Thursday's drill. Coordinators said this helps students to better understand what they would see and deal with right after a disaster.

The drill began at 9 a.m. and lasted until 11 a.m.
