MADISON COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

During an interview with WAFF 48 News Tuesday at his office in Huntsville, Congressman Mo Brooks said he would not consider running for U.S. Senate as long as fellow Republicans Jeff Sessions and Richard Shelby continue to seek re-election.

Senator Sessions would earn a fourth term if he wins re-election in 2014. Senator Shelby has been a U.S. Senator since 1987, and if he decides to run again, would be up for reelection in 2017. Shelby served as a congressman from 1979 through 1986. When asked if Brooks would give against either of them any consideration, he said he would not.

"I have no desire to run against either Senator Shelby or Senator Jeff Sessions. I think both of them are doing an excellent job in the United State Senate. They're doing the right thing for their country, and I'm proud to have them as my United States senators," Brooks said.

When asked if he would think about running for senator once one of the two retires, he said he would.

"Well, if one of them were to retire, then I would consider that possibility at the time the retirement took place," Brooks said.

He added that any talk about him running for senator is nothing but speculation at this point because he expects Senators Shelby and Sessions to remain in office for a several more years.
