GREENBRIER, TN (WAFF) - The mayor of Greenbrier, Tennessee was arrested Monday afternoon at city hall after being indicted by the Robertson County grand jury.
Billy Eugene Wilson, 56, was indicted on one count of official misconduct and one count of theft over $60,000 for taking money for personal benefit from the Greenbrier Toys for Tots charity.
Investigators said Wilson took about $60,000 from the charity between November 1, 2005 and October 31, 2013 to pay his personal expenses. They said stole the money through his position as mayor, volunteer fire chief and founder of Greenbrier Toys for Tots.
The investigation into allegations that Wilson also misused city funds continues.
Wilson was booked into the Robert County Jail on $5,000 bond.
