MADISON COUNTY (WAFF) -

This winter will be a little warmer for some senior citizens.

Volunteers with CASA of Madison County helped winterize more than 140 homes for the elderly and the homebound. They also did some other odd jobs and yard work.

John Conover, a volunteer with the group said, "Today, we've got a group of folks together. Folks that I didn't know that we're meeting through church. We're getting together, working together. We're getting our girls out here, our daughters out here working, learning responsibility, and helping out the community.

CASA's next big project will happen on December 20 through December 22. Volunteers will be building wheelchair ramps for the holidays. The goal is to gift 12 families with a ramp to help their loved ones be able to leave their homes.

This is the 30th year for CASA of Madison County's "Winterization" program.
