HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

The Marine Corps "Toys for Tots" campaign is officially underway.

The kickoff event took place Friday at Toys R Us in Huntsville. It also will serve as a drop off location for the campaign.

Every year, the program collects toys for children who might otherwise go without for the Christmas holidays.

Residents in Madison County who need assistance will be able to register November 20 through the 23.
