HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - Huntsville police are searching for the gunmen involved in a shooting that left one man critically injured, early Friday morning.
Authorities said the shooting happened around 4:30 a.m. on the 2700 block of Norton Avenue. According to police, a man approached a car, pointed a handgun at the driver and demanded money. The driver and the passengers inside the vehicle fled.
Investigators said the offender and another man opened fire on the victims, striking one of the passengers in the stomach. Police said the offenders then fled the scene in a burgundy Chevrolet Blazer and are still at large.
When authorities arrived on scene they found the victim inside his car in the front yard of a house on Mallory Avenue. Police believe the victim drove to a family member's home to get help.
Authorities said the victim was taken to Huntsville Hospital and rushed into surgery with life-threatening injuries.
Police continue to investigate and search for the gunmen involved.
