It's Friday night and the Elmore County High School Panthers are fighting for a victory at home!

While coaches on both sides are barking out orders, Tonya Atkins is calmly making a young girl feel beautiful in a few yards away.

"We're just showing the love of Jesus," said Atkins.

Her name is Crystal Carter. Crystal is 16 years old and a 9th grader at Elmore County High School in Eclectic.

Crystal is a shy, quiet teenager with special needs.

This is a story of a community coming together to make a difference in the life of one girl; free manicure, pedicure, make-up and clothes for homecoming.

Freshman Isabella Edwards voted for Crystal to be part of the homecoming court.

"We all got together and said 'let's do this for Crystal'," Edwards said.

"The first thing she asked after she was nominated was 'I'm gonna ride in the parade?' said teacher Janet Cooper.

The school held its homecoming parade the night before.

Kelli McGhee and Atkins are members of the Good Hope Baptist Church's GLAM project. GLAM stands for 'God's Love Amazes Me.'

"The principal approached us and we decided to do it and show love," said McGhee.

It's that simple and nothing more.

Half-time is near in the game between the Panthers and Dallas County, which means show time is just around the corner for Miss Carter.

"You ready? Let's go," said Cooper as she wrapped up Carter in a warm coat over her sleeveless homecoming dress.

Carter is ready to be part of the 2013 Elmore County High School homecoming court at mid-field. For someone with Crystal's challenges this is a moment of a lifetime.

"This is wonderful. We'll remember this night for many, many years," said Carter's dad, Darrell Carter.
