SPEAKE, AL (WAFF) -

Two men were caught on Thursday after being stuck in a muddy ditch while trying to steal a four-wheeler.

Investigators said 32-year-old Rocky Lanford and 43-year-old Craig Stevens were arrested after the two tried to drive off with the stolen ATV attached to their truck.

According to Lawrence County Sheriff's deputies this happened on County Road 203 in Speake.

While trying to flee, the truck slipped into a muddy ditch in front of the house, and got stuck. The homeowner came back and blocked the truck in, while waiting for deputies to come.

Lanford and Stevens then got out of the truck and ran into the woods, but were quickly captured.

Both men were charged with trespassing and theft.
