HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

The WAFF 48 Storm Team is tracking rain and storms that may put a damper on your Halloween plans. We're continuing to track a potent storm system that will bring widespread rain and storms later Thursday afternoon and evening.

Some storms could approach severe limits, however the limiting factor for seeing severe weather is a lack of atmospheric instability to help fuel the storms. The primary threat remains wind gusts of 50-60 mph in the strongest storms.

The window for stronger storms is between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. in NW Alabama and the Shoals, between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. in the Huntsville Metro, and between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. in NE Alabama.

We will also be very windy Thursday afternoon and evening outside of any stronger storms with a south wind around 20-25 mph that could gust between 30 and 40 mph at times.

Plan on checking back with us on-air, online at WAFF.com and through our mobile app for updates on timing and expected impacts.

We'll also update you on Twitter and Facebook throughout the day.

If you see storm damage where you are and can safely take a picture, send it to pix@waff.com.
