Man claiming to be subject of viral video 'consulting family'


During a brief phone conversation with WAFF Tuesday, a man identifying himself as Joshua Ude said he was "consulting with friends and family." Ude was arrested and charged with criminal trespassing and resisting arrest on Sunday.

The arrest took place outside a Huntsville church and was captured on multiple cell phones, then posted to YouTube. Huntsville Police have launched an internal affairs investigation into the arrest.

WAFF called a phone number obtained from someone who originally sent us the YouTube video and identified Ude as the person in the video hours before police released his name. The man who answered to phone identified himself as Joshua Ude.

The conversation lasted for about two minutes. He was asked if he knew that the video had gone viral in the Huntsville area since it was posted. He said that he has been talking to his friends and family about it, but didn't discuss the video any more than that.

He also declined an interview until he had time to consult his family and friends and said he would call back later Tuesday night.

At last check, the video had been viewed more than 47,000 times.

Huntsville Police launched an internal investigation into the video, but in a statement Monday, Police Chief Lewis Morris said an initial review of the posted video clips indicate officers used appropriate techniques under the circumstances.
