After raising $3.1 million in 2012, nation's largest specialty retailer of health and wellness products looks for strong response in 2013
PITTSBURGH, Oct. 25, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- GNC Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: GNC), the nation's largest specialty retailer of health and wellness products, will participate for the 10th time in the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital® Thanks and Giving® campaign. GNC's employees and customers provided $3.1 million in donations in 2012, and more than $10 million over the last nine years of participation in the campaign.
The campaign builds awareness of and raises funds for the lifesaving research and treatment done at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, which is leading the way the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancers and other deadly diseases.
Starting today, GNC customers will have the opportunity to make a donation at any of the company's more than 6,000 U.S. retail corporate and franchise locations as well as online at GNC.com. One hundred percent of the funds raised from GNC employees and customers goes directly to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital to help ensure that families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food.
"Once again, GNC is turning to our employees and customers and asking them to support this wonderful and exciting annual fundraising campaign," said Tom Dowd, GNC Executive Vice President, Chief Merchandising Officer & General Manager. "This is one of our most important corporate philanthropy initiatives, and we look forward to the possibility of raising even more in 2013 than we did in 2012. Living Well also means helping others live well, and every dollar raised by GNC goes directly to support children and their families as they seek specialized pediatric healthcare at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital."
