Victims identified in fatal Huntsville wreck

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Police identified the victims involved in a fatal two-vehicle wreck in West Huntsville, Friday morning.

The wreck happened in the 200 block of Martin Road in front of Chadwick Place Apartments around 4:30 a.m.

Police identified the victims as Dezmond Dennis, 20, and Andres Gentry, 22. Dennis was pronounced dead at the scene. Gentry was transported to Huntsville Hospital with life-threatening injuries and died during surgery around 8:30 a.m. Friday.

According to authorities, the driver in the vehicle that struck Dennis and Gentry was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. 

Traffic was blocked in both directions on Martin Road while crews worked to clear the scene.

According to investigators, alcohol may have been a factor in the wreck. Toxicology tests are pending on the driver of the second car.
