DECATUR, AL (WAFF) -

Decatur police are investigating a crash involving a Norfolk Southern train.

The crash happened early Friday morning on Beltline Road, just south of Highway 20. Decatur police said a passerby saw the wrecked car around 1 a.m.

Southbound traffic on the beltline was blocked. Rail traffic on this line was also stopped as crews worked to clear the scene.

The driver of the car was taken by MedFlight to Huntsville Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The wreck damaged the railroad crossing arm.

No one on the train was injured. Authorities said the investigation into the wreck is still ongoing.

This is the second crash involving a vehicle and a train in North Alabama this week. Thursday morning, an 18-wheeler collided with a train in Albertville. The truck driver was taken to the hospital.
