To either keep or fire Carol Wicks as Director of Animal Services will be a decision made by the city council. If it comes to that, it would be put on a Decatur City Council meeting agenda for further review. So far, it is not on the agenda for their next meeting on Sep 2. If the issue comes before the city council, that's when we hope to find out why Mayor Kyle decided to put Wicks on paid administrative leave. He will not comment on it, saying he cannot talk about a pending personnel issue. MADISON, AL (WAFF) -

The driver of a car that led Madison Police on a chase was injured when he crashed into a field.

The chase began on County Line Road when officers attempted to pull over the vehicle around 11 a.m. Thursday on County Line Road. The driver did not pull over, and officers pursued the vehicle.

The car crashed on Greenbrier Road near the Old Highway 20 intersection. The vehicle left the roadway, went airborne over a ditch and landed in a field about 30 feet from the road.

Emergency responders put the suspect on a backboard to carry him out of the field. He was put in the back of an ambulance and taken to the hospital. His condition is unknown, but officers said he was conscious and talking after the crash.

Several people in the area didn't know what was going on, but did know something wasn't right.

"I just heard the police sirens chasing them and heard a bang and that was it," said witness Derek Sancho.

The incident is under investigation.
