HUNSTVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Wednesday marked 30 years since the deadly bombing in Beirut, Lebanon.

A suicide bomber attacked military barracks where American troops had setup a peace-keeping force. That day changed the life of one Tennessee Valley woman.

Amanda Moore was 3-years-old when her father Major William Winter died in the attack.

Major Winter served as a Marine Supply Officer for the Battalion Landing team.

Amanda doesn't remember a lot about that day, but she expressed how today is about honoring those who give their lives for us.

"It's about every day. It's about being thankful and recognizing and honoring those that have paid the price for what we have every day", said Moore.

241 Americans were killed that day. Many say that bombing sparked America's war against terrorists.
