Limestone Co. murder suspect pleads not guilty

LIMESTONE COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

Joel Moyers pleaded not guilty at an arraignment hearing Wednesday morning in Limestone County.

Moyers is charged with capital murder for the Sept. 29 shooting death of Brandon Hydrick.

According to court documents, Moyers used a Norinco SKS 7.62 rifle to shoot at Hydrick and his brother who were driving on Fennell Road on their way home from a bonfire in Limestone County.

The bullet went through the cab of the truck, striking Hydrick in the back. He died at the scene.

Moyer's trial is scheduled to begin Dec. 27.
