Huntsville woman frustrated by issues with healthcare site

Posted: Updated:
HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

A Huntsville woman is upset and frustrated after trying to sign up for health insurance under the Affordable Care Act.

Gwynne Platz described the process as time consuming and discouraging. Platz said she's tried to sign up for government issued health insurance for the last three weeks. She showed us the reason for her frustrations Monday morning.

With a WAFF camera rolling, Platz tried to log onto healthcare.gov, but when she reached the login screen, the computer screen went blank and never reloaded. Platz said she's tried everything including restarting her computer, deleting the computer's cookies, and trying a different internet browser. Platz said she reached out to the online marketplace chat and was told to try signing up during a different part of the day. Platz said she's tried to access the site in the middle of the day, night, and early morning but has had no success.

"I've had friends that have been able to get through and more power to them. I don't know how? Maybe they have some magic wand that they're waiving. Is there a special dance? I don't know," said Platz.

The Huntsville woman said she'll continue to try but her patience is wearing thin.
