Man arrested in connection with Decatur burglary

Posted: Updated:
DECATUR, AL (WAFF) -

Decatur police arrested and charged a man with burglary after two officers connected two incidents.

A victim reported a burglary to police on Oct. 18. Authorities said that while one officer was on the scene, another officer was dispatched to MCR Alloys in reference to two people trying to sell miscellaneous items, believed to be possibly stolen.

Decatur police said that since the officers quickly relayed information to each other, it was determined that the property being sold was the same property that had been stolen from the victim's detached garage. Officers said the two people were detained, and one was identified as Jason O'Neal Burgess. Both were taken to Decatur Police Department for questioning.

Burgess was arrested and charged with third degree burglary. He was processed at Decatur City Jail and transferred to Morgan County Jail on a $2,500 bond.
