DOTHAN, AL (WSFA) -

A judge has ruled in favor of the State of Alabama in a case regarding seized electronic game machines and currency from the Houston County entertainment complex known as Center Stage.

In his ruling Thursday, Houston County Circuit Judge J. Michael Conaway ruled that "the machines identified in this case are gambling devices or slot machines and are consequently illegal under the law of the State of Alabama."

Judge Conaway added "the seized United States currency was utilized in connection with Center Stages' gambling operation and supported the illegal gambling activities at that facility."

The seizure on July 26, 2012 included 691 machines and $288,668 in currency.

Under the Code of Alabama § 13-A-12-30(a) the gaming devices "shall by Court order
be destroyed or otherwise deposed of as the Court directs."
