CHILTON CO., AL (WSFA) -

Video of a fight at a Chilton County school is raising eyebrows and the mother of one of the teens involved has filed a lawsuit against the school district.

Belinda Hammock says her 16-year-old son, Devon Hammock, is the victim of bullying and the school district is trying to keep the incident quiet. She says the school did take some disciplinary action but says it wasn't enough.

The mother says the fight happened Sept. 16 at Lecroy Career Technical Center. The video is now circulating around the school.

"They gave one boy in-school suspension, and he also got to go back to school and play football and everything and he was one of the boys involved in the fight," Belinda Hammock said.

Assault charges have been field against the other student involved in the fight. Hammock said she wants all of the students involved to be expelled.

Chilton County School District Superintendent Dave Hayden said he couldn't comment and told WSFA 12 News to contact the district's attorney. We haven't been able to reach him.

The mother says the bullying started weeks before the fight and school officials did nothing to prevent it.

Attorney Julian McPhillips is representing the Hammock family and is seeking damages from the district.

"[This] young man could have been killed, I've never had quite the evidence historically staring you in the face as we have here today in this video," McPhillips said.

The attorney said this is a prime example of bullying gone too far.
