ALBERTVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

The Marshall County Commission may move the Albertville probate office to a site away from the courthouse. The request comes from the probate judge, who feels it would simply make things a lot easier for the general public.

The commission will take a look at moving the probate office in Albertville from the courthouse to a new location at the Crossroads Mall. For people getting new car tags or licenses at the current location, they find very little room to move around, and that is compounded on days when court is held.

Commission Chairman James Hutcheson said the move would come at little cost to citizens. Hutcheson said the biggest cost will be that to run computers and internet so they can conduct business.

"I've already looked at the location and the mall is going to give us space at no charge. It will be a win for the citizens of Marshall County," said Hutcheson.

The commission is expected to vote on the request during Tuesday night's 6 p.m. meeting. We will update you on the results online and on WAFF 48 News at Ten.
