LAUDERDALE COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

Health officials in the Shoals hope to soon determine the source of a Legionella pneumonia outbreak. Ten cases of the illness have been confirmed in Lauderdale County, all isolated to the Shoals area.

Officials said they have notified the Centers for Disease Control about the outbreak. They said they have not had any new cases reported to them since the first week in October.

Because this is not a contagious illness, not passed person-to-person, they will not have to send out an interstate notification to Mississippi, Tennessee or other surrounding areas.

A cause of the outbreak has not been determined, and investigations into the outbreak are ongoing.
