FLORENCE, AL (WAFF) -

Members of the Superintendents' Association spent Monday in Florence for their fall meeting.

Superintendents from across the state gathered to discuss challenges and issues they face within their districts on a daily basis. They also discussed the government shutdown and the potential harm it could cause on school systems if Congress cannot reach a deal.

"We like to get together about three times a year with the superintendents and their leadership teams and talk about the issues and how we can work together to solve problems," said spokesperson Eric Mackey.

The use of technology inside classrooms was another big topic discussed at Monday's conference.
