GUNTERSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Officials in Marshall County are investigating a suspicious fire at a house just outside of Guntersville.

The fire call came in around 10:23 p.m. Sunday. The house at 4791 Warrenton Road was fully involved when crews arrived.

Based on the burn pattern, investigators say it appears suspicious. The state fire marshal was called in to investigate.

The house was a total loss. Fire crews used about 5,000 gallons of water to extinguish the blaze.

Investigators say they were called back out to the scene Monday afternoon after the fire rekindled.

The homeowner recently died and it was vacant at the time of the fire.
