Monday night, the Boaz City Council approved changes to an existing alcohol ordinance, allowing for the sale of draft beer, a measure that mayor Tim Walker called a 'housekeeping matter.'

When residents voted to approve alcohol sales, the city never passed a separate ordinance to include for draft beer, even though it was included in the local legislation passed by the Alabama Legislature.

The omission was discovered when Frank Caracci with Frank's Thunder Alley made a request for a draft beer license. Caracci says he doesn't want to sell beer in bottles due to safety concerns. He feels alcohol sales will be good for business because he said he has been losing bowlers to Gadsden, where beer is sold in their bowling alley.

The city council voted to pass the updated ordinance during Monday night's meeting. Additionally, Caracci's application for a draft beer license was approved.
