FT. PAYNE, AL (WAFF) -

DeSoto State Park will host the Second Annual Spookapalooza Pumpkin Carving Contest during the week of Oct. 21 through Oct. 26.

Get into the Halloween spirit by carving up your own festive jack-o'-lantern! Contest entries can have any theme or design, although the hosts do request that no one use political themes or sports teams. Entries will be judged on creativeness, originality, neatness and overall appearance.

Pumpkins to carve will be available, if needed, at the DeSoto State Park's Country Store starting on Oct. 21. These pumpkins are free for the contest, but donations are accepted.

Entries are required to be turned in at the DeSoto State Park's Nature Center by 10 a.m. on Oct. 26. Winners will be announced later that day at 5 p.m. at the Campfire Ring in the DeSoto State Park Improved Campground.

All entries will be on display during the Spookapalooza festivities. Entries can be picked up at the Country Store on Oct. 27.
