Dothan police say a man is facing multiple charges after he chased his girlfriend and forced the car she was in to crash into a tree.

Investigators say Lance Widner got into a fight with his girlfriend Wednesday at a house outside of Dothan.

Police say the girlfriend left the house with two of her friends, and Widner got into his 1996 Ford Mustang and started chasing them. As the victim's vehicle turned onto West Inez Road from Hodgesville Road, Widner hit the back of it and forced them off the road into a tree, according to police.

After the crash, police say the girlfriend willingly left the scene with Widner. The two friends were treated for minor injuries at the scene.

Widner and the victim were found a short time later on  North Brannon Stand Road. The victim wasn't harmed.

Widner was charged with two counts of first degree attempted assault and one count of first degree domestic violence.
