PARIS, TX (KLTV) -

The Paris Police Department is investigating a Wednesday night shooting they're calling a heinous quadruple homicide. The crime occurred at a residence located at 434 Northeast 6th Street.

According to police, a female called 911 around 11:23 p.m. to report someone bleeding at the home. Upon arrival, officers found four men slain in a front room of the house.

Those individuals are 18-year-old Romello Dewain Steward, 21-year-old Devante Larry Akins, 24-year-old Brijonne Rashad Woods, and 32-year-old Billy Charles Carey. Steward, Watkins and Woods reside in Paris. Carey is from Garland.

Friends of the three younger men say they home was a hangout where the men went to play video games, and officers confirmed that one of the men did live at the house.

All four victims appeared to have suffered gunshot wounds. A preliminary investigation ruled out a murder-suicide situation. Police investigators and Texas Ranger Stacey McNeal worked the crime scene throughout the night and finally cleared the scene at 8:05 a.m.

Captain Danny Huff with the Paris Police Department said, "The officers areworking very hard to try to interview friends and acquaintances of the deceasedas we try to establish a motive for these murders."

In a press conference Thursday, police would not confirm whether the murders were drug-related, gang-related, or if they believed more than one person was responsible.

"I think it would be inappropriate for me to answer that," Huff said.

Police did say, however, that despite having a quadruple homicide in their city, residents should not be fearful.

Huff added, "The only thing that Iwould say to ease the concerns of the community is that it does not appear tobe a random act of violence that you would normally think the community wouldbecome very concerned about."

But a concern for the department is that someone in the tight-lipped community may know who did this, and why.  "There is somebody out there that knows what took place, and we need them to come forward," Paris PD Chief Bob Hundley said.

Two other men were at the residence at some point Wednesday night. Both were interviewed by investigators and one of those men was arrested on unrelated charges. Police have not identified any witnesses to the shooting.

This investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information regarding this crime is asked to contact the Paris Police Department at 903-784-6688 or, if they prefer to remain anonymous, call Lamar County CrimeStoppers at 903-785-TIPS. Tips that lead to the arrest of the person responsible also come with a $1,000 reward.

Another cold morning out there today, but this is the last of that! Temperatures this morning are into the mid to upper teens and low 20s, but the wind chill is pretty much nonexistent because we have a light wind from the south at 2 mph.
