The Montgomery Public School System voted 5 to 0 Wednesday to approve a salary for its interim superintendent, Margaret Allen.
The Board approved a salary of $158,100 to be paid retroactively to October 2. The contract will also include travel expenses.
In total, the contract is worth approximately $3,000 more than what ousted superintendent Barbara Thompson was making at $155,000 per year. However, Thompson had a $700 per month car allowance that was not approved for Allen.
The meeting to approve her salary was Allen's first official meeting since her appointment.
Allen was previously the director of professional development for MPS. She has served the school system in various positions including teacher, assistant principal and principal at several schools as well as executive director of elementary schools.
Allen has been with MPS since 1976.
