City officials plan meeting to discuss new police chief

Posted: Updated:
SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Savannah Mayor Edna Jackson, City Manager Stephanie Cutter, County Commission Chairman Al Scott and County Manager Russ Abolt all plan to meet Wednesday to talk about what they want in the next Savannah-Chatham Police Chief.

This after Chief Willie Lovett abruptly retired a week ago in the midst of controversy following a sexual harassment complaint and racial discrimination lawsuits.

Interim Chief Julie Tolbert is the acting police chief. You can watch Chief Tolbert Tuesday, Oct. 8 at 10 a.m. on Mid-Morning Live on WTOC-TV as she shares her plans for moving the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department forward.
