is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, a time for the community to come together
and build awareness and a movement towards safe and healthy relationships for
all individuals and families. Domestic violence touches every person in our
community and society as a whole; and violates a person's dignity, safety, and
basic human rights. Stand up as a champion for survivors and join the movement
for a safer and healthier community. Alabamians can get directly involved in
assisting victims of domestic violence and domestic violence organizations by
donating old phones and accessories to "Hope Line". Proceeds from the
"Hope Line" program are used to provide wireless phones and airtime
to victims of domestic violence. In addition to the used cell
phone drive, anyone affected by domestic violence is encouraged to participate
in the month long "How I See DV" awareness campaign. Go to
thehotline.org to learn more about healthy versus unhealthy relationships.
