Good Friday evening. Here's a check of some of the stories we're working on for WAFF 48 News at 10.
The woman who was shot and killed after trying to drive through a barricade near the White House Thursday was suffering from mental illness. Miriam Carey reportedly suffered from psychosis and postpartum depression. Carey was an African-American, and WAFF 48's Shumuriel Ratliff explores a stigma that exists in that segment of our society when it comes to seeking psychological help. We'll hear from a mental health expert on the steps to bridge that gap that's keeping people from seeking professional help.
The billion dollar Sweetwater Real Estate development Project, a prospective retail development at the intersection of I-65 and I-565 is dead for now. But WAFF 48's Charles Molineaux will have more from Decatur city leaders on the prospects that the project will be revived down the road at some point.
And of course, The WAFF 48 Sports Team will have you covered with all your highlights and scores from across the Valley with Friday Night Fever. Join Scott, Carl and Company for all the action.
We'll see you then,
