Testimony: Man fatally stabbed boyfriend in lover's quarrel

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Huntsville Police told a Madison County judge Vedi Bautista stabbed his boyfriend through the heart at their apartment during a domestic dispute. The fatal stabbing happened on July 8.

Bautista let his attorney and translator do all the talking inside the Madison County courtroom, on Wednesday, during his preliminary hearing.

A Huntsville Police investigator testified Bautista called 911 minutes after he fatally stabbed Pablo Cruz.

Investigators said Bautista got angry with Cruz, his boyfriend, after Cruz didn't come home from a club at the time he was supposed to On July 7. On July 8, the investigator said Bautista came home from work and found Cruz talking on the phone with his family in Mexico.

The investigator testified Cruz's family wanted money, Bautista offered to help, but Cruz told him he wanted nothing more to do with Bautista. Investigators said the suspect then admitted to stabbing his boyfriend in the heart at their Patton Drive apartment.

Police testified they discovered a bloody t-shirt and knife inside the apartment. The court learned Bautista has several aliases including Barry Bautista and Bautista Gonzales.

The case was bound over to a Madison County grand jury.
