HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

A former student brought a BB gun to Lee High School Thursday morning, according to Huntsville City Schools' spokesperson, Keith Ward.

Ward said the former student, who came to the high school to re-enroll, hid a BB gun in a trash can at the school. Students noticed the action which was also picked up on the security cameras.

Security and the school resource officer retrieved the BB gun. The student was escorted off of the campus.

Huntsville police arrested Adrian Darion Marquez Robinson, 18 of Huntsville, and charged him with carrying concealed weapon.

Huntsville City Schools released this statement:

A former student came on our campus this morning with the purpose of re-enrolling in school. He was observed by our security cameras and other students as bringing something that looked like a weapon, and placing it in a trash can in the cafeteria. The object was discovered to be a BB gun. Our staff, security personnel, and Huntsville Police were involved in retrieving the BB gun, and taking the individual into custody and removing him from our campus.

Please take the time to remind your child about our policies found in the student-parent handbook which list prohibited items. It is a Class II offence to have any instrument on campus which gives the appearance of a gun or knife, and it is a Class III offense to have possession of any type of weapon, including anything such as a BB gun or knife. Penalties can include suspension or expulsion.
