A group of River Region residents are holding a protest against abortion and a vigil for its victims.
The first day of the international "40 Days for Life" campaign kicked off Wednesday outside the Reproductive Health Services business in Montgomery.
The group is there to pray and to push for a peaceful resolution to end abortion. But why 40 days?
"During the 40 days, we use a spiritual time frame throughout Biblical history," said David Bereit, National Director for the event. "God brought about transformation in 40 day periods, and so that's why we align ourselves with that 40 day time frame," he explained.
The campaign is being held in more than 300 cities around the world.
