Former JCCEO director pleads guilty to stealing funds

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

The former executive director of the Jefferson County Committee for Economic Opportunity pleads guilty in federal court.

Gayle Cunningham was charged and indicted with stealing a half million dollars from the agency. She resigned from the JCCEO in March.

The indictment accused Cunningham of using some of the agency's money to pay the mortgage on her Shelby County home.

Cunningham's daughter was also charged with taking money from the agency.
