September 2013 marks the tenth annual National Preparedness Month. The goal is to educate the public about how to prepare for emergencies, including natural disasters. We here in the Tennessee Valley are no strangers to severe weather and we have experienced first-hand the devastation and heartbreaking loss of life that often comes along with violent tornados. One thing that WAFF 48 participates in every year is a weather radio programming event. Again this week, we are headed to various locations in the Tennessee Valley to make sure people get their weather radios programmed properly so that if their particular county is in the path of severe weather they can be notified early enough to take shelter. Fall is our secondary severe weather season. Make sure your family has a plan of action for these and other potential disasters. We look forward to again helping the residents of the Tennessee Valley stay safe in severe weather throughout the year.
