CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

An investigation by Hope Academy Chapelside concluded Tuesday after a mother says her third grader was allegedly stabbed in the head Monday afternoon in the school restroom.

Kimberly Griffin tells 19 Action News she was concerned for her daughter after she received a message saying her daughter was allegedly attacked by an older student.

However, an investigation by the charter school shows the third grader was not stabbed nor injured by another student.

Hope Academy Chapelside released this statement Tuesday:

"At Chapelside Cleveland Academy, the safety and well-being of our students is of the upmost importance. The Academy was made aware of an incident at the school yesterday, September 23,  that included a 3rd grade student and middle school student. The 3rd grade student was accidentally hit by a latch on the door as she was exiting the bathroom. The student was not stabbed, and did not fall or black out as being reported. These events have been confirmed by multiple school staff members and security personnel. The school responded properly by immediately calling 911 and alerting the family and the appropriate disciplinary actions are being taken. The police department and the school are collaborating together to ensure all proper procedures are followed."

The little girl was rushed to the hospital for treatment. She is now recovering at home.
